Conway’s law states that “Any organization that designs a system will produce a design whose structure is a copy of the organization’s communication structure.” While some may see this as a weakness, you can turn it around and use it to your advantage. This is often referred to as the reverse Conway maneuver: shape your organization so that it will lead to the desired architecture. In the book Team Topologies the authors provide some organizational patterns that you can apply to successfully make Conway’s law work for your organization. In this session I will present you with the 4 main types of teams that are discussed in the book and how they fit together.
